Abraham Ozler – Malayalam Crime Thriller Movie Review

‘Abraham Ozler’ Malayalam movie review: The Search for a serial killer.

The malayalam movie Abraham Ozler starring Jayaram is another run of the mill serial killer movie, with a cameo from superstar Mammootty being the only thing to feel good about.

Our Malayalam movies depict serial killers, leaving written clues at the crime scene for the investigator to follow him and appreciate his intelligence gives him the high. For the Serial Killer committing these acts out of revenge and making the investigator follow his lead by dropping clues is the general trend in the serial killer movies nowadays and sometimes we feel this game of cat and mouse is getting more importance than the real revenge.

The Malayalam movie Abraham Ozler is directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas and is produced by Irshad M Hassan and Midhun Manuel Thomas. The Music Direction in Abraham Ozler is by Midhun Mukundan. Saiju Sreedharan has done the editing. Malayalam MOvie Abraham Ozler total collection was about 40.53 crores.

The Serial Killer in Midhun Manuel Thomas’ Abraham Ozler written by Randeer Krishnan is similar and leaves cryptic clues for the investigators to follow . The Police investigator Abraham Ozler played by Jayaram, is brooding over the dissapearance of his wife and daughter years ago. He is suffering from sleep loss and Hallucinations , but the police team has no one other than him to lead the investigation.

A few murders in the same manner, starting with an IT employee in a hospital with clues left behind to indicate there will be more to come. The investigation team led by Abraham Ozler works real hard to piece together the clues to find a link between them.

There are some thought provoking elements in the script but not strong enough to hold you back after the interval. The puzzle is aolved by that time.

The remaining part is remembering the history as what had happened and who had done what. Even a long cameo by superstart Mammootty does not help other than provinding some excitement.

Many of the scenes are not upto the mark, while the dialogues are not well written, unlike Thomas’ previous directorial Anjaam Pathiraa, which also had a serial killer plot. Just like that movie, Abraham Ozler is also a medical thriller with surgeons and forensic experts speaking at length about many things. Some of these revelations do not sound earth-shattering.

The protagonist’s struggles, in the end, appear as a mere embellishment for the character, as they are not dealt with in detail until the end, which leaves hints of a sequel. But, whether there will be enough material for a sequel of a film that just about struggles to reach the finish line is another question. Abraham Ozler is currently running on DIsney Hotstar since 20th March 2024.
